300gsm Malaysian Standard Carbon fiber CFRP fabric with high strength
CFRP fabric strengthening of existing structures can involve complex evaluation, design, and detailing processes, requiring a good understanding of the existing structural conditions along with the materials used to repair the structure prior to CFRP fabric installation. The suitability of FRP for a strengthening project can be determined by understanding what FRP is and the advantages it offers, but more importantly, its limitations.
A mix of usually carbon fibre cfrp fabrics, and an epoxy resin, wrapping systems are custom designed for each project and application. Where there is an element of corrosion in the structure, carbon fibre wrapping can be used to both weather-proof corrosion and structurally re-enforce the structure. The impervious material will protect a structure from moisture intrusion and further corrosion, reducing the need for ongoing maintenance work.

How to Use CFRP Fabric
• Surface treatment
• Applying primer
• Leveling
• Applying carbon fiber adhesive
• Externally bonded carbon fiber reinforced polymer(CFRP) fabric
• Applying carbon fiber adhesive again
• Curing and protecting
Preparation works
Surface must be clean and sound. It may be dry or damp, but free of standing water and frost. Remove dust, laitance, grease, curing compounds, impregnations, waxes, foreign particles, disintegrated materials and other bond inhibiting materials from the surface. Existing uneven surfaces must be filled with an appropriate repair mortar. The adhesive strength of the concrete must be verified after surface preparation by random pull-off testing (ASTM D 4541) at the discretion of the engineer. Minimum tensile strength required is 200 psi (1.4 MPa) with concrete substrate failure (typical).
